A Field Hockey ball is designed for and used in the sport of Field Hockey. The ball is a small, round, and hard ball commonly made out of a hard plastic or composite material. Field hockey balls often have dimples across the surface to maximize ball speed and control, especially on wet surfaces.

Material: Field hockey balls are commonly made of a hard plastic that cover the ball’s core. There are a variety of core materials such as cork, rubber, or even hollow. The official ball standards set by the FIH don’t actually require the ball to be a specific material, as long as it is hard and smooth.
Design: Field hockey balls are most commonly white, but can be made in a variety of colors and used as long as it does not’ contrast with the field color. Filed hockey balls also commonly have dimples or indentations across the surface to maximize speed and control, especially on wet surfaces

Rules
The Federation Internationale de Hockey (FIH) is the regulating body of the sport internationally. The FIH creates and maintains the official specifications and rules for ball standards. To comply with FIH standards a ball must be, spherical, weight between 5.5 and 5.7 oz., and have a circumference between 224 and 235 mm.
